Cloud County Community College held its Spring 2017 induction ceremony for Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an international honor society for two-year colleges. The ceremony was held March 10, at the college's Concordia campus.

Kansas Wesleyan University Inducted 13 members to its Kansas Delta Chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society on October 30, 2016. National Executive Director Dr. Trisha Yarbrough was the guest speaker for the ceremony. KWU's Kansas Delta chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society recognizes the top 10 percent of KWU's upperclassmen students for their scholarship and outstanding academic accomplishments.

Mindscope Health, an organization led by Siri McGuire '17 and Taiga Araki '17 has won the $10,000 Connecticut College Aetna Foundation seed stage grant-a branch of the InnovateHealth Yale and Aetna Foundation partnership. Mindscope works to improve the quality of life for patients with brain diseases and mental illnesses.

Heralded as one of the longest running traditions at Kansas Wesleyan University, Christmas By Candlelight showcases the vocal and instrumental talents of KWU and local high school students in a magical and spiritual performance celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. The Kansas Wesleyan and Salina communities once again began the Christmas season with a night of joyful song, magic and wonder in the presentation of "One Small Child." The performances took place on the Kansas Wesleyan campus on Sunday, December 11. Christmas by Candlelight consists of two concerts featuring the KWU Philharmonic Choir, the Wesleyan Chorale and the KWU String Orchestra. Details

KWU Forensics and Debate traveled to Norman, OK to compete in the 26th annual Sweetheart Swing hosted by the University of Oklahoma and Texas A&M University Feb. 10-12. In Parliamentary Debate, the team of senior Alex Vore and junior Dakota Yates placed 4th. In International Parliamentary Debate, the team of Alex Vore and sophomore Jacob Studebaker placed 4th. Dakota Yates placed 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking. Freshman Megan Kline placed 4th in Informative Speaking and was a semifinalist in Extemporaneous Speaking. Four Kansas Wesleyan Students traveled to Topeka on Tuesday, Feb. 7, for Student Day at the Capitol hosted by the Kansas Independent College Association (KICA). Kobee McCorkle, Autumn Zimmerman, Trail Spears and Kaleb Whitehair were recommended for this opportunity by KWU faculty. The day included a lesson on advocacy, lobbying, and the state of Independent Higher Education Policy, followed by legislative appointments.

An evening of presentations by Kansas Wesleyan student-scholars vying for the honor of "The Best of KWU" will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, in Fitzpatrick Auditorium. The Best of KWU is an annual event in which Kansas Wesleyan honors the very best work done by undergraduates during the past calendar year. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free. First place prize in $250, second place is $100 and the third place finisher will be awarded $50.
